The Baughman Center

Location: Gainesville, Florida
Area: 1500 sq ft
Year: 2000

A Serene Sanctuary

Nestled amidst the vibrant energy of the University of Florida, the Baughman Center is a tranquil haven for contemplation. This pavilion transcends the boundaries of a traditional chapel, offering a space of quiet reflection for all.

Window to the Wild

The pavilion's exterior walls are a captivating blend of form and function. Floor-to-ceiling windows bathe the interior in natural light, connecting seamlessly with Lake Alice's surrounding beauty.

Sunrise Sanctuary

The Baughman Center's thoughtful design goes beyond aesthetics. The structure's orientation ensures that the dominant axis aligns with the summer solstice, sunrise, and sunset. This adherence to the principle of "Orient-ation," a practice commonly found in major religious buildings, imbues the space with a sense of peace and spiritual connection.
